GM. We are going to win. An internet where 4 corporations wall us all into their surveillance state and make us pay rent forever is just incompatible with human flourishing. The only question is how long it takes everyone propping up history's worst billionaires to figure this out.
Perhaps the most Bluesky thing I’ve seen in awhile is not just one tribute to character actor Richard Riehle with hundreds of likes but several tributes to character actor Richard Riehle with hundreds of likes
good morning, my livestream with Alex Gibney is tomorrow at Noon Eastern/9 am Pacific, please join us for a conversation about the making of "MUSK," storytelling in the age of social media, the threat that media consolidation poses to independent journalism, and much more
Here's a reminder for my stream with Alex Gibney, happening this Tuesday at 9 am Pacific/Noon Eastern.
Add it to your calendar, and let's make this the biggest stream the AT Protocol has ever seen!
Meta took down the No Kings instagram; TikTok banned the Musk documentary account for supposedly violating its political posting policies.
A reminder that platforms are owned by the wealthiest of people, control the means of media distribution, & put their thumbs on the democracy scale as they wish
Post from Ezra Levin:
❗❗❗Mark Zuckerberg's meta just suspended the No Kings Instagram account. I just rushed back from my local No Kings to jump on this.
Bottom line, would be helpful for all pro-No Kings folks to elevate the issue and help us get the word out about No Kings today. The Nerd Reich strikes again.

TikTok has banned the entire Musk film account, citing political content that violates its policies. The move, which comes just as the Alex Gibney’s investigation into Elon Musk expands to more than 470 screens across North America, raises concerns about Big Tech suppression that the very film seeks to expose.

“Pro wrestling conversations, like sports on Bluesky across the board, rarely engagement-farm—posts are celebratory and much more real. The lesson is to invest in product features that serve people who care more about the community than they care about going viral.” — @harry.bsky.team
"The experience of a wrestling fan is very similar to other sports fans. You want a place to go when the big moments are happening, and an evergreen community to shoot the shit with during the quieter days.”
@stholeary.bsky.social interviewed Bluesky's Harry Packer about pro wrestling.
The Bob's Burgers illustrators love accurate buildings and infrastructure, down to the framing, plumbing, wiring. The boiler has an expansion tank. The power poles have transformers wired up just like they should be. There's a gas meter in the alley. The under-sink plumbing is detailed and correct
tired: bluesky is dying
wired: bluesky is slowly turning into a minnesota-only social media network. Soon it will become another local curiosity like saying "parking ramp" instead of "parking garage" and playing duck duck gray duck
v1.135 is live!

Announcing Attie site builder!
Starting today, Attie users can build small social pages like an AMA, a guestbook, or a survey your friends will argue about for a week. We made a few to get you started. Go make a better one and share it: attie.ai
100 years ago today, the first Winnie-the-Pooh book was published! A.A. Milne and his son were partly inspired by a bear named after the Canadian city of Winnipeg. Watch this classic Heritage Minute to get the full story. buff.ly/Z4Ko1Mm
Can't find the enhanced images but here are 4 original scans from my g-grandmother's scrap books: My great grandmother with the bear, my grandmother's brother (double exposure) w/bear, my grandmother and her brother w/bear, Harry Colebourn, who bought the bear in Winnipeg, at Valcartier Camp w/bear.

we just pushed an update to search so it favors recency more, which should give better results for topical things, notable people, news, etc.
might need more tuning, so give it a try and let me know what you think. props to @treethought.xyz for this update
My kid has started a Letterboxd list called Killer Sweaters for films where the killer wears a great sweater and they've asked me to throw it out to Bluesky for more because "that's the kind of thing those weirdos like to do"
Chris Pratt: Knives OutBetsy Palmer: Friday the 13thMatthew Lillard: ScreamMasato Hagiwara: Cure
A couple notes:
1. This will be a livestreamed Q&A with the director, not a stream of the documentary. Sorry for any confusion!
2. Video of the full Q&A will be available online after the fact, in case you can't watch live.
This is NOT an ad for @alexgibneyfilm.bsky.social’s new documentary “MUSK” (in theaters now). We are promoting it for free.
Join us right here on October 20, 2026 at 9am Pacific/noon Eastern for a livestream hosted by @niedermeyer.online.

Huge special thanks to @bsky.app for partnering with me on the October 20 stream with @alexgibneyfilm.bsky.social!
All of my ETTW livestreams are exclusive to the AT Protocol, for reasons that we will very much be discussing throughout the various conversations. Recordings will be available later.
Students made their first minicomics in my intro making course - mostly standard format but this student, a first time maker(!), did something so off the charts I’m still reeling from it! & he made like 12 of them for his classmates! A paper engineering feat of flipbookery as well as killer drawing!
Open video on BlueskyA video of a paper sort of popup/minicomic where the panels are turned by a lever mechanism to flip and reveal a new image as you turn it.
i got so many people calling this tweet fakeposting back when i made it but since this is bluesky and things have less reach on here im just going to post the photo

Cowboys again. This time one of our boys has lost his boots. Standing in a field of long grass the cowboy points towards the ground and shouts back to his colleague, “Lil bone people got muh boots.” This makes no sense to the other cowboy who sits atop his horse away from the action. He responds, “Lil wut?” Sure enough in the foreground we see a squad of little bone people scampering through the grass with the stolen cowboy boots. They’re thrilled. How the bone people got the boots off the cowboy is unclear.
Artist’s note: I tend to draw drawings from the same perspective (straight on) most of the time. This idea came about when I was goofin around trying to draw a character from a lower angle. I like that the story unfolds with the foreground, mid-ground, and background all working together. There’s a draft of this one included in the Spooky Pants book. Coming out next week!
